Starting Your Week

Starting up after a fun or relaxing weekend and get back to work is not easy for most people. How do you make the most of out a new week?

Start the week

It’s Monday, your alarm clock buzzes, you jump out of bed, shower, get dressed, pack your stuff and run off to work, where you arrive just 2 minutes too late for a variety of reasons. By 11:00 (and after loads of coffee) you start to wake up. Sounds familiar? Instead, start the week properly. When you go to bed on Sunday night at around 22:30, you can sleep until 6:00 and still have time left to wake up, have a coffee, read some news, and get going before you get to work, instead of waking up at work. It also gives you the opportunity to do what’s next…

Make a plan

A lot of people start their week like a darts board, simply awaiting whatever might hit them at work. Rather than making a plan and trying to stick to it, they constantly react to what comes on their path. No wonder you don’t get things done! Make a plan of what you are going to do, both in work as well as in your private life.

The Monday Night Question

Ask yourself on Monday night: “Did I start the week off well?” If the answer is yes, great! If the answer is no, ask yourself what went wrong and figure out how to fix it. You would be surprised to find out how many people conclude on Monday that it’s “one of those weeks”, and simply allow the rest of the week to actually become “one of those weeks”. I have shocking news for you: You will not achieve different results by doing different things! Shift your focus, change your behavior – and your Tuesday might very well be a brand new start!

Have a great week!
